‘Dune: Part Two’ Delayed; ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ & ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ Sequels Find Release Dates

A trio of blockbuster films have just been handed new release dates.

First up, Warner Bros. and Legendary have pushed Dune: Part Two back from October 20, 2023 to November 17, 2023. The film is now scheduled to open in theaters alongside Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and Universal’s Trolls 3.

Warner Bros. and Legendary also announced that the untitled sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong, rumored to be titled Son of Kong, will release in theaters on March 15, 2024. Not much is known about the upcoming MonsterVerse film except that Adam Wingard will be back to direct and that Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey, The Guest) has been cast in the lead human role.

Lastly, let’s jump over to Sony, who confirmed that a sequel to last year’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife will open in theaters on December 20, 2023. That means we should know who will be back from the previous Ghostbusters films by the end of the year. As hinted at in the end credits of Afterlife, the sequel will be set in New York City.
