Jurassic World: Dominion has officially begun filming.
That’s right, that’s the title for Jurassic World 3. What does it mean? I have no clue. Is it a better title than Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom? Again, I don’t know.
Director Colin Trevorrow took to Twitter to announce the start of filming. He shared the above image which confirmed the movie’s title.
Franchise lead Chris Pratt also shared the image alongside a definition of “dominion”: sovereignty or control; man’s attempt to establish dominion over nature.
Jurassic World: Dominion seems to be turning into the final man vs. dinosaur confrontation. Dominion is also pulling an Endgame by bringing back all the fan-favorites from past films.
In addition to the original Jurassic Park stars, Dominion will feature a handful of returning Jurassic World veterans. Some new cast members include Scott Haze (Venom) and Dichen Lachman (Altered Carbon).
Trevorrow has previously teased the new direction the Jurassic franchise would take with the short film Battle at Big Rock. The short featured a family camping trip gone horribly wrong. It also successfully brought back the suspense and horror that has been lacking from the franchise since The Lost World.
I’m extremely interested in seeing how Trevorrow handles the massive cast of characters. I’m hoping for a lot of interaction between the Park and World trilogy stars, and maybe a couple surprise appearances. And I also want to see some heroic and gruesome deaths. If this is the final (for now) installment in the Jurassic franchise I want to see it go out with a bang!
Jurassic World: Dominion hits theaters June 11, 2021.
