It’s action month here at the Wasteland, so we’re bringing you a special action movie edition of movies to stream this month.
Grab your energy drinks, oil up your six pack abs, and get ready to rock out with these awesome action movies streaming now on Netflix, Prime Video, Max, Hulu, and Peacock.
Netflix: The Harder They Fall (2021)
Not all Westerns can be classified as action movies. However, The Harder They Fall is one that certainly brings the heat. It features an all star cast with the likes of Regina King, Idris Elba, and LaKeith Stanfield. The story is fun and the gunfights are as sleak as they are exciting. This is unfortunately one of those direct to Netflix movies that got a little lost in the shuffle. Suffice to say, it’s totally worth your time to check it out.
FOR FANS OF: The Hateful 8; Django Unchained; Tombstone
Prime Video: The Clan of the White Lotus (1980)
Shaw Brothers Studio produced more great kung-fu movies than you can name. The Clan of the White Lotus may not be the best, but it certainly stands out as my favorite of the bunch. The fight sequences are bonkers. Gordon Liu modeled his Pai Mei character in Kill Bill Vol. 2 after the Priest White Lotus character from this film. If that influence isn’t enough to sell you on this, then I’m not quite sure what is would. Just watch it. It’s cool as hell.
FOR FANS OF: 36th Chamber of Shaolin; Five Deadly Venoms; The 8 Diagram Pole Fighter

Max: Batman Forever (1995)
We lost the great Val Kilmer a little over two months ago. He had so many great roles worthy of honoring to remember his legacy, including his turn as Batman in the horniest of all of the Batman movies. Joel Schumacher brought a very welcomed playful energy to the Batman proceedings. It’s a bit more colorful and intentionally goofy than the Tim Burton movies. Either way, Batman Forever features enough great Batman action to warrant a rewatch (or first watch if you somehow haven’t seen this).
FOR FANS OF: Batman Returns; Top Gun; Falling Down
Hulu: Enemy of the State (1998)
Political thrillers in the 90’s had some serious bite to them. They also sometimes had Gene Hackman being delightfully grumpy and Will Smith being a movie star. Enemy of the State luckily has all of this and so much more. Tony Scott might be my favorite action oriented director, and this is one of the best examples of how he mastered all forms of the genre. It doesn’t have as much high-octane energy as some of his other movies, but the intrigue keeps things moving briskly and exciting along the way.
FOR FANS OF: Deja Vu; Eagle Eye; The Bourne Identity
Peacock: The Day After Tomorrow (2004)
Can disaster movies be classified as action flicks? Who’s to say. Maybe they are. If so, The Day After Tomorrow is one of best examples of how fun they can be. It has great big set pieces, thrilling sequences, and comically flat characters. It’s an amazing comfort movie to throw on when you want to turn your brain off for a few hours. Which sounds like all the makings of an action movie to me. So yes, we can classify this as an action flick.
FOR FANS OF: Independence Day; San Andreas; Twisters
