Director Joseph Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are going for a hat trick.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the pair are collaborating on an upcoming sci-fi movie described as a UFO disclosure-themed take on the 1976 political thriller All the President’s Men. Kosinski will direct from a script by Zach Baylin (Creed III, The Order) with Bruckheimer producing.
Kosinski and Bruckheimer first worked together on the legacy sequel Top Gun: Maverick, which was released by Paramount in 2022 and made over $1.4 billion at the box office. Their next movie, F1, will be released by Warner Bros. this summer.
A bidding war is currently underway for the untitled sci-fi UFO movie, with almost every studio imaginable wanting to land the high-profile project. Amazon, Skydance, Lionsgate, Sony, 20th Century, Universal, Paramount, Apple, and Warner Bros. are all bidding for the movie, which sources report is escalating “quickly and aggressively.”
This movie remains shrouded in mystery. The budget range is unclear, the plot is under wraps, and no actors are attached yet. However, former U.S. Air Force intelligence officer and Pentagon whistleblower David Grusch is attached as an executive producer and consultant. Grusch’s claim to fame is that in 2023 he testified before Congress that the government has been secretly recovering and studying non-human craft.
We’ll keep you posted as to which studio lands the movie.
Are you down for a Kosinski-helmed, Bruckheimer-produced sci-fi movie?
